Community Engagement Worker – Be Part of Transforming Lives
About the role
In this hands‑on, people‑focused role, you will champion community engagement across our mission expressions. You will oversee the delivery of social services, coordinate volunteers, and create accessible faith pathways for those who wish to explore them. Your leadership will help ensure our community feels welcomed, supported and valued.
This is a part‑time position (6 hours per week) for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Based at our Armidale Corps, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the local community while enjoying the flexibility of part‑time work.
How you will make an impact
Community Service Delivery — Oversee Salvos Connect, EPA services, Christmas Cheer and other community programs.
Volunteer Leadership — Build, train and support a team of community engagement volunteers, ensuring compliance and strong team culture.
Program Development — Coordinate programs such as the Positive Lifestyle Program and explore new initiatives that respond to emerging community needs.
Community Communication — Share information through newsletters, social media, local papers and internal channels.
Partnership Building — Foster strong relationships with local organisations, TSA specialist services and community providers.
Client Support — Ensure every community member experiences a warm, welcoming environment and is linked to appropriate TSA services.
Administration & Compliance — Manage SAMIS recording, reporting, approvals, card reconciliations and Workday compliance.
What you will bring
Tertiary qualification in Community Services/Social Work (Certificate level minimum)
Experience in community engagement within a not for profit or faith-based setting
Ability to build rapport with community members and partners
Experience developing and facilitating community-based activities
Integrity, professionalism and a heart for people
Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission, values and faith informed approach
Current driver’s licence
National Criminal History Check
Working With Children Check
