For the HyGear engineering department we are looking for an intern! The following internships / graduation assignments are available.
1 Correlating dew point and impurity measerment in hydrogen purification systems (SMR/VPSA);
2 Understanding drying agents.
You will be working withing HyGear’s product management team to investigate whether dew point measurements can replace or complement hydrogen purity analysis in SMR-VPSA systems. Analyse process data, assess correlations, and evaluate cost, reliability and performance. The goal is to determine if dew point sensing can serve as a primary, backup or additional quality control parameter.
Short literature study on dewpoint analysis in hydrogen purification;
Collect and analyse historical impurity analyser and dew point measurement data from our systems operating worldwide;.
Develop and validate correlation models between impurity content and dew point;
Evaluate technical and economic feasibility of replacing or supplementing impurity analysis;
Provide recommendations for implementation in SMR-VPSA hydrogen systems.

In various HyGear systems gas streams need to be dried. The drying agent selection is based on the required dewpoint. In the internship parameters like the adsorption and regeneration isotherms and kinetics are studied to improve the selection process tailored for each specific application. The study is based on literature data, simulations and some data analysis from existing systems. The outcome of the study is a substantiated way to select the appropriate draying agent for a specific application.
Literature search;
Analysis of isotherms;
Create calculation sheet for process pre-design based on process specifications;
Write report.
BSc / MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Sustainable Energy, Chemical Engineering, or Technical Business Administration;
Interested in industrial systems and maintenance processes;
Communicatively strong and detail-oriented with a feel for didactics;
Experience with PowerPoint, Visio, or CAD is a plus
Working with technology pioneers of the energy transition;
Monthly fixed fee of € 500 based on 40 hours per week;
Lots of responsibility and room for own initiatives;
Professional support, guidance and insights;
International working environment on an innovative industry park focussed on renewable energy;
A dynamic, energetic, passionate team;
Flexibility in working from home / office.
