Peer Navigator

Description:

Peer Navigators in the CPOL study will support and deliver the intervention by facilitating weekly training sessions for identified opinion leaders aged 18–24 years, distributing study materials, and participating in research activities. They will work closely with the SSRA under the supervision of the RP, attend weekly debriefing meetings, and work flexible hours of 24 hours per week.

• Support the implementation of the intervention and related study activities
• Attend all study trainings
• Facilitate training sessions with opinion leaders
• Provide basic HIV-related information about HIV testing and sexual reproductive health
• To provide information on health awareness
• Empower young people to be able to improve their knowledge and self-management skills regarding their health and diseases including HIV prevention, progression, treatment, support for linkage to care, disclosure, emotional and social support, self-care and harm reduction strategies
• Ensure ongoing support to opinion leaders by maintaining regular contact
• Always maintain confidentiality
• Keep accurate source documents
• Report all adverse events to the SSRA and management to comply with AHRI policies and procedures
• Attend all debriefing sessions
• Perform ad-hoc activities as required by the study
• Comply with customary and local tribal laws

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate
• Age 18-30 years
• Must be a resident of uMtubatuba, KwaMsane, Somkhele, or surrounding areas

Minimum Experience

• Working with young people
• Experience in data collection
• Leadership skills
• Previous work experience as Peer Navigator

Skills Required

• Good verbal and written communication skills in IsiZulu and English
• Accuracy and precision
• Report writing
• Must be able to work under pressure
