Description:
The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is recruiting two Clinical Research Assistants (CRAs) to join the Implementation Science Unit. The CRAs will support the Physical Activity Study led by Dr. Smart Mabweazara.
This study focuses on the use of wearable devices to inform the development of context-specific physical activity promotion interventions for clinical populations in disadvantaged socioeconomic groups. Using mixed methods, the research aims to design an intervention tailored for adults living with HIV and obesity in a rural setting.
Overview of Duties:
- Recruit and enroll participants at participating clinics.
- Conduct informed consent and collect study data according to protocols.
- Perform Data collection using RedCap electronic platform.
- Perform first line data quality control.
- Track and follow up participants in person or by telephone
- Support data entry and management in the study database and study files.
- Ensure adherence to study procedures and ethical research practices.
- Ensure outputs are of high-quality standards
- Participate in regular and ad hoc training and meetings for data collection
- Report to line manager new developments to ensure improvement between AHRI, community, and Department of Health
Minimum Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Fluent in isiZulu and English (written and oral) with strong communication skills
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate required
- Computer literacy (MS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Resident and a member of a homestead from within the Population Intervention Programme Study Area (PIPSA).
Minimum Experience
- Experience in research or surveillance data collection
- Familiarity with data collection and capturing in a research environment
Skills Required
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English;
- Accuracy and precision;
- High computer literacy
- Report writing
- Must be able to work under pressure;
