Position Summary: The General Maintenance Cleaner is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that the facilities and property remains clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. Cleaning Duties: • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways, offices, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas in lower landing • Assist with regular cleaning of buildings at street level including group booth, ticket plaza and main admin office • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, windows, and surfaces. • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. • Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in designated areas. • Keep property litter free by regularly sweeping of the lower landing, tunnel, elevators, ticket plaza and funicular areas. • Replenish supplies in restrooms (e.g., toilet paper, soap). • Clean and maintain carpets
Maintenance Tasks: • Perform basic maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, or tightening loose fixtures. • Use of basic hand tools. • Use of larger cleaning equipment such as leaf blowers and pressure washers • Report any damage or issues to supervisors • Assist with snow removal and winter maintenance of roads and walk ways • Use golf cart to move waste to proper bin • Assist with bringing ponchos from the warehouse to our site • Assist with minor repairs or troubleshooting of building systems as needed.
Safety Compliance: • Follow all safety protocols and procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment. • Ensure the work area is safe for all crew and visitors, following health and safety standards. • Works with good housekeeping practices and safety to promote a work environment free of hazards within the control of the staff on a daily basis • Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
Additional Duties: • Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks as scheduled or requested. • Assist with other cleaning or maintenance-related duties as directed by Shift Manager and/or Manager. • Applies high energy, self-motivation and willingness to learn and be trained on various types of equipment • Responds to work order requests as needed in a timely and accurate manner, and cleans up after work orders are complete • Follow policies and procedures and training to complete work and assure quality, environmental, and safety standards ae met • As directed, performs inspections of systems. Informs Shift Manager or Manager of any unusual activity or maintenance issues in a timely manner • Complete work using logs and checklists • Communicates corrective and preventative actions to the Shift Manager or Manager, Facilities promptly as it pertains to any operational system failure with respect to maintenance and facilities duties • Assists coworkers to accomplish necessary projects and tasks. As a team work effectively and efficiently to ensure job responsibilities are completed for the subsequent shift • Support Marine, Guest Services, Food and Beverage, IT and all other departments as required • Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook) • Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts • Understands all Niagara City Cruises’ policies and procedures relating to the employee’s role within the company • Completes any other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications: • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education • Must hold a valid Ontario Drivers License, class G2 or G • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in facilities and maintenance role preferably in a hospitality environment • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems • WHMIS (training provided) • Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Systems • Strong problem solving skills • Experience with ISO compliance & standards considered an asset • Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekends and holidays • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) • Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods • Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection) City Cruises Canada does not use AI technology in any part of the recruitment process.
