JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Smart and Sustainable Systems Laboratory (S3 Lab) is hiring a Research Engineer to support its mission of leveraging data-driven technologies to enhance the performance and sustainability of engineered systems. In this role, the Research Engineer will update a recommendation system to predict optimal configuration settings for an exposure room of a 1.1 MW TRIGA (Training, Research, Isotope, General Atomics) Mark-F nuclear research reactor. Additionally, they will support the S3 Lab with reporting requirements for the Introduction to Production Systems certificate program and collaborate with industry partners for developing career pathways for graduates. This role involves collaborating with faculty and an interdisciplinary team to design, implement, and advance project activities in support of overall project objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Master’s degree in Engineering; or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and two years of engineering or technical engineering experience. Work experience may be substituted for the Master’s degree but may not be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or a Master’s degree in Engineering with two or more years of work experience.
