The Affiliate Analyst supports Volkswagen Group Canada’s Accounting Shared Services organization by managing end-to-end intercompany (affiliate) accounting activities. This includes Accounts Payable invoice processing, reconciliations, settlements, analysis, and reporting. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely settlement of affiliate balances, and compliance with Group accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Employees who perform accounting and associated tasks, work on financial statements, and ensure their quality. In addition, customer and vendor payment transactions are processed.
• Act as a key point of contact for affiliate-related inquiries from internal stakeholders and affiliate companies.
• Partner closely with Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Inventory Accounting, Purchasing, Logistics, and Quality teams to resolve intercompany issues.
• Maintain, reconcile, and settle assigned affiliate Accounts Payable balances in line with segregation-of-duties requirements.
• Prepare affiliate reconciliations based on statements received and resolve discrepancies.
• Finalize balance confirmations for assigned affiliates and investigate variances.
• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly affiliate settlements in line with defined payment terms and month-end deadlines.
• Prepare weekly settlements for vehicle, parts, and miscellaneous affiliate activity.
• Create and maintain annual affiliate payment schedules; ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Reconcile invoices to SAP goods receipts and supporting documentation.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve price, quantity, quality, or timing discrepancies in collaboration with Controlling, Logistics, Purchasing, and Quality.
• Prepare and post monthly affiliate accruals, in-transit entries, and miscellaneous journal entries.
• Perform monthly flux analysis and intercompany activity reviews to support accurate consolidation.
• Analyze intercompany balances to ensure integrity of financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc affiliate reports, including warranty settlements, FX analysis, and intercompany activity summaries.
• Support Treasury with weekly and monthly liquidity planning inputs.
• Support Tax with quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
• Maintain affiliate accounting documentation, including ICFR controls, process maps, narratives, and desk procedures.
• Respond to internal and external audit requests (e.g., EY), providing required analysis, walkthroughs, confirmations, and samples within defined timelines.
• Provide additional analysis and reporting as required.
Formal Education:
• College Diploma and/or University Degree in Accounting or related area of study
Experience:
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience
Competencies:
• Strong accounting and reconciliation skills; ability to manage large and complex accounts
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Ability to self-prioritize and manage high-volume transactional workloads
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Asset: Experience with SAP
• Asset: Proficiency in the German and/or French language
Work Flexibility
This position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3+ days in office
Salary range is dependent on factors such as industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. The salary range for this role is $68,000-78,000, actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and internal compensation practices.
