Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help them to use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (Your Why)
Are you an Endpoint Engineering expert ready to shape the future of how our people work?
At Datacom, we believe great technology should empower our people — and as a Senior Endpoint Engineering Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of delivering modern, cloud-first workplace experiences across our organisation. If you're passionate about EUC, SOE design, and driving internal digital transformation, this could be the role for you.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Endpoint Engineering Specialist, you'll play a critical role in designing, managing, and evolving the endpoint environments that underpin how our business operates day-to-day. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading digital transformation — partnering with internal business units to transform the way our people work through cloud-first productivity and collaboration solutions, guiding stakeholders through every stage of our digital workplace journey
- VIP and Concierge - You'll be at the forefront of our VIP assistance services, becoming the lead for their needs
- Owning the SOE — proactively managing and maintaining our Standard Operating Environments (SOEs) and supporting infrastructure, ensuring they remain current, stable, and fit for purpose across the organisation
- Being the escalation expert — acting as the 3rd level support and escalation point for Desktop Support competencies, stepping in to resolve burning problems, critical environmental issues, and SOE design faults with speed and precision
- Standardising at scale — developing ongoing support and maintenance processes that drive consistency and standardisation across the business
- Delivering to SLA — using the right tools and processes to ensure internal services are delivered in line with agreed Service Level Agreements, every time
- Driving project outcomes — completing assigned project activities independently or under Project Manager guidance, delivering tasks accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
- Contributing to reporting — providing accurate and timely project reporting that keeps internal stakeholders informed and decisions well-supported
- Mentoring and guiding — providing guidance and advice to junior team members within established company policies to resolve technical problems and meet delivery timelines
What You'll Bring
You're a specialist with deep endpoint and EUC expertise, a people-first mindset, and the technical credibility to back it up. Here's what we're looking for:
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of related experience in endpoint engineering, EUC, or a closely aligned discipline
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Technical Knowledge
- Deep expertise in modern and traditional SOE management methodologies — you know how endpoint environments should be built, managed, and evolved
- Advanced End User Computing management skills, including device lifecycle, imaging, and configuration management
- Strong working knowledge of Office 365 and the broader Microsoft 365 productivity suite
- Solid understanding of Hardware and Software Vendor support processes, including product lifecycle management
- Intermediate understanding of Project Management principles — you can own a workstream and deliver
- Exposure to AWS Workspaces and cloud-based desktop delivery platforms is a bonus
Skills & Behaviours
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — you understand the implications of your work and come with solutions, not just problems
- Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills — you build trust quickly across teams and maintain it over time
- Confident presenter — you can convey technical concepts clearly across all levels of the organisation, from the service desk to senior leadership
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across a wide range of internal stakeholders
- Solid consultative and planning skills, with the ability to align technical recommendations to business goals
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within large, cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work on assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative, managing schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
