POSITION TITLE: Food Bank Coordinator
STATUS: Regular Part-Time/ Non-Exempt
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Center Coordinator, the Food Bank Coordinator oversees the operations of the Food Bank, including but not limited to recruiting, training, and coordination of volunteers, purchasing, restocking, ordering, preparing food, overseeing costs and quality control, coordination of food deliveries, monthly statistics, and reports as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the values of equity and inclusion by honoring diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.
- Screen clients for emergency referrals as appropriate
- Maintain the food program standards at the highest level, including but not limited to WA food health and safety standards and compliance with grants and contracts.
- Maintains food inventory with FIFO standards.
- Placing orders with vendors as well as purchasing food and non-food items from local stores, precuring and managing donated food.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, coordination, training, and retention.
- Train, schedule, and provides daily oversite and coordination of food program volunteers.
- Assure logs are maintained, units of service are recorded in client database, and reports are generated as needed.
- Pack food orders and stock shelves as needed.
- Responsible for implementing food program policies and procedures.
- Helps with food pick up and deliveries.
- Ensure that the facility is cleaned daily and kept in an organized manner.
- Assist in maintaining maintenance and cleaning policies and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, food program related events, over time hours, especially between Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
- Support other program initiatives throughout the year
- All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on a continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to operate a telephone
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer
- Ability to understand written information
- Ability to climb a ladder to a height of twenty feet or more.
- Ability to operate hand trucks and pallet jacks.
- Non-use of any substance, including alcohol or any drug, which might affect the health, safety, or well-being of a client, the public, other workers, and oneself while on the job or on Army premises.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Candidate should have 1 year of experience or more in one of the following categories: supervising volunteers, working within a non-profit organization, customer service, food service, or food bank operation.
- Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current, valid Washington State driver’s license, a safe driving record, and the ability to pass the Salvation Army’s driver's safety test.
- Ability to attain and maintain a Food Handler’s certificate.

Must have basic knowledge of:
- MS Word
- MS Excel
- MS Outlook
- Database software
