About the role
The HCM Configurator – Quality is accountable for configuration integrity, regression stability, and quality assurance across the HCM ecosystem, ensuring that every change introduced into HR platforms is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose before reaching production.
The role sits within the Corporate Functions D&T Organisation and reports to the Director HCM DevOps. The role acts as a quality gatekeeper between design, configuration, and release—protecting employee data, payroll accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role is critical in an environment where frequent SaaS releases, local legislative changes, and parallel transformation initiatives significantly increase the risk of regression and unintended impact.
This position partners closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and external delivery partners to ensure that quality is built‑in, not inspected late, and that HR platforms remain trusted by the business.
Role Responsibilities
Own and execute quality assurance and regression testing for all HCM configuration changes across Core HR, Talent, Payroll‑adjacent, and foundational processes
Design and maintain robust test scenarios and test packs aligned to HR business capabilities and critical employee journeys
Ensure configuration changes comply with approved functional designs, security models, and compliance requirements
Act as a formal quality checkpoint for releases, validating readiness before deployment to production
Prevent regression impacting payroll, statutory processes, integrations, employee data, and reporting
Maintain clear test evidence, defect documentation, and traceability for audit, release, and regulatory purposes
Continuously improve testing effectiveness through standardisation, automation where appropriate, and risk‑based prioritisation
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years hands‑on experience testing enterprise HCM platforms (e.g., Workday and/or other HCM systems)
Strong understanding of Core HR, Talent, and employee lifecycle processes and their downstream impacts
Proven experience designing and executing regression and release testing in SaaS environments
Solid understanding of HR data integrity, payroll dependencies, and compliance considerations
Experience working with structured change, release, and incident management processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail with a disciplined, methodical approach to quality
Ability to understand end‑to‑end process impact, not just isolated configuration changes
Confidence working with Product, DevOps, and Architecture teams to challenge unsafe changes
Continuous improvement mindset, with interest in automation and testing optimisation
