The Opportunity
The AVP, Finance Systems plays a pivotal role at the intersection of Finance and Technology, acting as a strategic partner in shaping how Finance operates through systems, data, and streamlined processes.
In this role, you will ensure Finance’s business needs are clearly translated into effective technology solutions—from concept through delivery—while driving strong testing, validation, and seamless integration into day‑to‑day Finance operations. You will be the trusted Finance leader throughout the systems lifecycle, ensuring solutions deliver real business value.
You will develop deep expertise across core Finance processes, including general ledger, financial close, management and regulatory reporting, financial planning and analysis, and key actuarial finance interfaces. As the voice of Finance, you will partner closely with Technology and senior stakeholders to influence design decisions, prioritize enhancements, and enable scalable, future‑ready platforms.
In addition, you will lead and develop a team of Finance Analysts, driving continuous improvement, process simplification, and smarter ways of working across the Finance function.

What You’ll Do:
Act as the primary point of contact between the Finance function and IT/Technology teams for all Finance systems initiatives, enhancements, and issue resolution
Translate complex Finance process requirements into structured, unambiguous business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications that Technology teams can design and build to
Facilitate requirements-gathering workshops with Finance partners across Financial Reporting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Actuarial Finance to capture end-to-end process needs
Maintain and govern the Finance Systems backlog — prioritizing enhancement requests against business value, risk, and capacity, in partnership with Finance leadership and IT delivery teams
Serve as the Finance subject-matter expert on all system architecture decisions that impact Finance data flows, reporting structures, and the chart of accounts
Execute Finance projects and process enhancement initiatives.
What You’ll Bring:
Designated accounting professionals with CA, CGA, CMA qualified or equivalent.
The candidate will have 7-10 years in a progressive leadership role, specifically within Finance and strong exposure to financial systems implementation
Broad business knowledge in Finance accounting / reporting /planning, IT/ Systems, Underwriting, Claims Operations, Reserving, IFRS17.
Promotes teamwork, flexibility and adaptability, and collaborative efforts with other groups.
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and staff management.
Strong professional ethics and integrity, willingness to demonstrate accountability & ownership.
Strong sense of customer focus, quality results oriented, managing stakeholder’s expectation and timely communication
Preferably experience in Property & Casualty Insurance.
Has initiated, lead and successfully completed major change programs.
The salary band for this position ranges from $150,000 to $199,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
