Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team. Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs. With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women’s service and an additional medium secure men’s facility. About the Role: The position is required to undertake psychosocial assessments, contribute to interdisciplinary practice and team care planning, as well as provide direct and indirect interventions. This position will consult with care team regarding social and systemic issues, as well as advocating for consumer and family/carer rights and entitlements. Social workers take an explicit person-in-environment perspective and a collaborative, strengths-based approach to working with consumers, families, and carers.
Duties: • Develop culturally responsive supports and interventions in practice areas of: social welfare and capacity; discharge planning and community placement; family and culture; agency and community links (including NDIS/disability services); risk management and addressing criminogenic needs. • Work with consumers and family/carers around psychosocial needs and legal literacy, as well as accessing supports and referrals to external services. • Work within an ethically and legally sound framework • Work with consumers and family/carers around psychosocial needs and legal literacy, as well as accessing supports and referrals to external services
About You: • Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery • Interest or expertise in practice areas of substance use/AoD Recovery, family therapy, forensic disability or forensic rehabilitation • Understands risk reduction and recovery principles and practices in a forensic mental health setting. • Ability to operate as an independent practitioner and to work within a multi-disciplinary tea
