About the position:
The Child and Family Consultant provides high quality assessments, culturally safe, holistic, person-cantered, and trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including children (0–12 years) and their caregivers. Grounded in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) framework, this role draws on lived experience to foster connection, understanding, and hope through mutuality, respect, and purposeful storytelling. The worker walks alongside individuals to strengthen self-determination, resilience, and cultural identity while supporting them to navigate social, emotional, and mental wellbeing pathways. The role focuses on early intervention, therapeutic support, and connection to culturally appropriate services, contributing to positive wellbeing outcomes through safe, purposeful, and culturally grounded practice. The role will provide high quality assessments, therapy and group interventions to children and families with a range of mental health and wellbeing concerns. As a part of Kids Hub multidisciplinary team, the practitioner actively participates in holistic care planning and reflective practice. This ensures care remains culturally led, healing-focused, and responsive to the strengths and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. (1 year contract)

About you:
We are seeking a practitioner with expertise in working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and their family, in the Social and Emotional Wellbeing and mental health services in Southern suburbs of Adelaide. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed, family-centred practice and will proactively advocate with and for families, infants, children and young people. You will bring strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultural and kinship practice, child rearing, child development and use this to deliver practical, strengths-based support that enhances outcomes for children and young people and their families. The role includes proactive outreach to engage families who may face barriers to access, home visiting where appropriate, and supporting families in community settings. You will provide high quality assessments, group work and contribute to the delivery of individual and therapeutic programs, as part of the multidisciplinary Kids Hub team. The ideal candidate is resilient, flexible and creative, fast paced in responding to complex needs, and works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
