Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE The purpose of the Instrument Technician is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of process instrumentation. II.MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 1.Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate all conventional instrumentation including DCS, PLC, and Analyzers. 2.Complete PM work orders on a daily basis and update equipment status and calibration data as required. 3.Execute the work order assignment efficiently and safely with quality workmanship. 4.Provide the engineers with a root-cause diagnosis for each equipment failure. 5.Provide information to the engineer and supervisor for observations in the field of abnormal situations and possible failure. 6.Work well with others in a team environment. 7.Work outside normal shift hours and work on-call as needed. 8.Complete daily route check of assigned area. 9.Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements. 10. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. 11. Comply with THM, NVP, and NTG requirements. Including daily audits on a daily basis. 12. Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal. 13. Perform other duties as assigned. III.QUALIFICATIONS A.TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 1.Previous Related Experience Required 2 years of experience (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) and a high school diploma or equivalent; or Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or related fields. 2.Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job • Problem-solving mindset • Troubleshooting ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently • Preventive maintenance knowledge • Familiar with test equipment, multimeters, communicators, various hand tools, etc. used on a daily basis to troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate instrumentation and control valves. • Computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other software. • Hands-on experience with loop checks, field commissioning, start-up support, and site troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems. 3.Education 1.High School diploma or equivalent 2.Valid Driver’s License 3.Be able to obtain within 90 days of employment and hold a “TWIC” –Transportation Workers Identification Card for duration of employment. 4.Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or Two (2) years’ experience(PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) 4. Other Certification/Training Required • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire. • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
