About the Division

We have a team of approximately 200 specialised staff members across South Africa comprised of charted accountants, lawyers, and a variety of other professionals who offer specialist insight across many industries. 

Deloitte Tax professionals keep current on the latest changes that impact clients' business tax strategy, enabling clients to focus on business objectives while we address the tax requirements.

Job Description

Are you passionate about data, technology, or tax? Join Deloitte’s Tax & Legal business unit as a Data Analyst, Tech Graduate, or Tax Honours Graduate and kick-start your career with hands-on experience, professional development, and exposure to cutting-edge solutions.

Our graduate programme offers a 12-month journey of ongoing development, with the potential for progression to a second year based on performance. You’ll work closely with tax professionals, leveraging your analytical, technical, and tax knowledge to deliver exceptional solutions to clients. The programme includes on-the-job coaching, rotational experience (where applicable) in selected departments, and access to globally aligned learning pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, transform, and load data to support tax compliance and reporting.
• Develop and implement analytical models and technology-driven solutions for tax strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate technology into tax processes.
• Interpret complex datasets to generate actionable insights for tax planning.
• Support the maintenance and development of tax technology tools.
• Participate in client projects, including solution demos.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with tax legislation.
• Deliver high-quality service experiences and contribute to team success.

Programme Highlights

• SAIT Learnership: Gain professional certification and practical experience through the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (for Tax Honours Graduates).
• Learning Pathways: Tax technical boot camps, peer-to-peer learning, technical sessions, and online development.
• Professional & Leadership Skills: Courses in business etiquette, client relationship building, emotional intelligence, and presentation skills.

Qualifications

Honour’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Accounting, Law, Finance, Tax, or a related field.

• Knowledge of data analytics and data wrangling (e.g., SQL, SAS, Alteryx).
• Business intelligence and data visualisation skills (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
• Coding skills (e.g., Python, C#, .Net).
• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (e.g., Machine Learning, NLP) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with tax legislation and principles is advantageous.

• Strong communication, presentation, and organisational abilities.
