Role Summary:
Under the direction of the Production Manager/Team Leader, the Mortgage Production Assistant will assist the Home Loan Officer with achieving the member’s mortgage lending needs. Originate real estate first mortgage loans gather and review needed documentation and submit the loan to operations for processing. They will also coordinate the loan process with operations while at the same time projecting a professional image and maintain confidentiality with all customer and sensitive data.

What You Will Be Doing:
Setting appointments with members
Interview members over the phone, via email or face-to-face
Requesting and gathering required documentation to ensure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards and have zero errors
Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers
Demonstrate a working knowledge of all mortgage products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall
Submit loan files to operations within the pre-determined timeline with all required documentation
Coordinate with Operations on file flow and needed documentation to close the file on time
Monitor status of loans and update members and referral partners
Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities
Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities
Interact with real estate agents and members of the community to increase production of loan sales
Report areas and actions of concern to supervisor as actionable
Display mutual respect, trust, and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by always displaying solid ethics and integrity
Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge
About You:
Strong organizational skills and to have the ability to multi-task on numerous projects simultaneously
Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person and over the phone
Ability to make quality decisions in a timely manner with extreme attention to detail
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to promote and maintain a productive work environment
QualificationsWhat You Will Need:
One (1) to three (3) years of similar or related experience; mortgage lending experience desired
High school diploma; or equivalent completion of specialized course of study, training, and experience
Possess NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator Identification (MLO) Number or meets requirements to obtain NMLS MLO Identification Number
Knowledge of conforming and non-conforming loans as defined by the secondary market desired
Experience with Desktop Underwriting or other lending-specific software desired
Experience in loan origination consistent with FNMA guidelines, as well as FHA and VA loan originations desired
Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing
Independent travel is required to achieve training and business objectives
A valid Driver’s License is required
