About the role 

As our Assistant Accountant for our Infrastructure & Transport teams, you’ll support the finance function by maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to timely financial and management reporting. Working closely with the Management Accountant and Operations Business Partner, this role plays a key part in day-to-day accounting activities, month‑end processes, and capital expenditure reporting. It’s a hands‑on role that offers exposure across operational finance in a growing business. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including journals, accruals, and prepayments. 
• Support month end close through balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances. 
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports, including supporting schedules and analysis. 
• Maintain accurate financial records in the ERP system, ensuring timely and correct transaction processing. 
• Support capital expenditure processes, including CERFs, capex registers, and capex/WIP reporting. 

What you’ll bring 

You’ll bring a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders across the business. You’re organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling priorities in a fast paced environment, with a genuine interest in developing your finance career. 

What sets you up for success: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. 
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. 
• Experience preparing journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations within a finance team. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using accounting or ERP systems. 
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative, solutions focused mindset.
