

The Department of Fine Arts and Art History (FAAH) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for the position of Visiting Professor of Art History and Curating.
We are searching for a scholar with a distinguished record of academic or curatorial activities. The area of specialization is contemporary art and theory, or the theories, methods and practices of curating. The position is available as either a one semester or full academic year appointment. Appointment will begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2026.
The course load is one course per semester in addition to coordinating a non-credit reading seminar and delivering one public lecture. Courses taught by the Philip Jabre Visiting Professor will form part of the MA in Art History and Curating. Opportunities to collaborate with and curate exhibitions at AUB Art Galleries are available, and a teaching course might take the form of co-producing an exhibition with the students in the course.
Applicants will preferably hold a PhD in Art History, Curatorial Studies or related field, but a PhD is not required and have experience as a scholar or curator.
