We are seeking interns to learn and provide support for geospatial and remote sensing technologies. This support will include the operation of hardware such as UAS/drones, stationary and mobile robotic equipment, and traditional surveying instruments. In-office support will include the use of computer aided design and drafting applications (“CADD”), field data processing, imagery (e.g., 3D imaging support), modeling support, and general engineering services.
Interns will have the opportunity to assist in providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal employees. Interns will work closely with experienced IT professionals, learning valuable skills and contributing to the smooth functioning of our IT systems. This role requires a passion for technology, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of IT support.
- Support of Remote Sensing data collection
- Support of Remote Sensing hardware usage (UAS, LiDAR, Robotics)
- Enterprise engineering software implementation and deployment
- Software package deployment
- Customer centric support and technical help desk support
- Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw
valid conclusions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include
a trade/vocational school.
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.
- Study and interest in Remote Sensing, Robotics, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Computer Information Systems, and/or Management Information Systems is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of office practices and customer service practices.
- Skill in standard Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Use of proper business etiquette and communications, security protocols with sensitive and confidential information, and
basic office equipment
- Adherence to applicable safety standards, practices, and procedures
- Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- Sitting - prolonged periods of time
- Standing-prolonged periods of time
- Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
