About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic technology leader to join Origin as our Head of IG Cloud & Platform. This is a critical leadership role supporting our Integrated Gas business, responsible for shaping and delivering the cloud, platform and infrastructure strategy that underpins our technology ecosystem.

Reporting to the Group Manager – IG Technology, you will drive modern, secure and scalable platform capabilities that enable business performance, innovation and long-term growth. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure technology investments are aligned to strategic priorities, while balancing cost, risk and operational excellence. This role will also play a key part in advancing automation, engineering enablement and the responsible adoption of AI technologies across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Lead the IG architecture function under the oversight of the Group Manager – IG Technology and in consultation with Origin’s central Architecture function, defining and executing the cloud, platform and infrastructure strategy aligned to business goalsLead and develop a high-performing team of cloud, platform and infrastructure specialists
• Drive platform simplification, standardisation and long-term capability uplift and oversee cloud governance, infrastructure lifecycle management and engineering standards
• Enable scalable, secure and reliable technology solutions across the Integrated Gas business
• Partner with senior business and technology leaders to align platform strategy with business outcomes and champion automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code and modern engineering practices
• Support adoption of AI and emerging technologies in a safe and scalable way
• Manage strategic vendor relationships to deliver value and performance outcomes
• Prepare and present platform roadmaps, risks and investment priorities to senior stakeholders

 

About You

 

You are a senior technology leader with deep experience in cloud, platform and infrastructure environments, and a proven ability to lead at scale in complex organisations. You bring a strong strategic mindset, balanced with hands-on understanding of modern engineering practices and platform ecosystems.

 

• Track record of leading an architecture function, setting principles, standards and patterns across a complex landscape
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, architecture, and engineering enablement practices
  
• Genuine fluency in agentic AI and AI-assisted developer tooling, and a view on how to embed both into an engineering operating model 
• Proven ability to lead large, high-performing technical teams
• Experience driving transformation, simplification and platform modernisation initiatives
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level
• Demonstrated experience managing complex technology portfolios and prioritising investment decisions
• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance cost, risk and value
• Experience with data platforms and modern analytics/AI ecosystems (e.g. Databricks) is highly regarded
