The Managing Club Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of the Galveston Clubs. This role ensures the organization effectively serves young people by delivering high-quality programs, maintaining financial sustainability, and fostering strong community partnerships. The Managing Club Director acts as the primary ambassador of the organization’s mission and values for the Island.
MAJOR JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Strategy:
• Provide visionary leadership to staff, and stakeholders.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and youth-centered organizational culture.
Program Development & Oversight
• Oversee the implementation, and evaluation of youth programs and services.
• Ensure programs meet the developmental, educational, and social needs of youth.
• Monitor outcomes and continuously improve program effectiveness.
Financial Management
• Ensure financial health, transparency, and accountability.
Staff & Volunteer Management
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff.
• Provide professional development opportunities and performance evaluations.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and high performance.
Community Relations & Partnerships
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and local agencies.
• Serve as the public face of the club in that region.
• Advocate for youth issues within the community.
Operations & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
• Oversee facility management and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures.
QualificationsEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, education, social work, or
related field preferred. 5–10 years of leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or youth-serving
organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be able to interpret Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston programs and philosophy.
2. Highly proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
3. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and engage stakeholders.
6. Financial acumen and strategic thinking.
7. Passion for youth development and community impact.
8. Absorb new information rapidly.
9. Multitask and manage multiple projects.
10. Highly organized with and attention to detail.
11. Work harmoniously with people at all levels of the organization.
12. Objectively evaluate, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions.
13. Valid Texas driver’s license.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission,
program objectives and standards. Provide/receive information pertaining to special projects, grants, and data
management systems for full programming potential. Maintain close contact with Vice President of Programs,
and the entire Programs & Club Operations team. Strong communication skills are necessary in order to talk
with different departments across the organization.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in
resolving problems and to publicize the Club.
