The Commercial Portfolio Manager provides strategic support to the East Region Commercial & Industrial Banking team. This role focuses on managing portfolio risk, supporting credit analysis, and assisting with special projects to ensure strong client relationships and sound credit practices.
Responsibilities
Portfolio & Client Management:
- Partner with commercial banking leadership and designated bankers to manage existing client relationships and evaluate potential new clients.
- Assist with onboarding customers, ensuring a smooth process through coordination with internal teams (Loan Coordinator, Treasury Management, Credit, etc.).
- Monitor booked credit facilities, including interim financial reviews, borrowing base reviews, covenant compliance testing, annual reviews, and problem loan administration.
Credit Analysis & Risk Management:
- Analyze financial statements and prepare credit proposals for existing and prospective clients.
- Review loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews, and problem loan summaries.
- Maintain reporting infrastructure and develop portfolio trend reports to monitor risk and industry guidance.
- Administer nonperforming loans and support risk mitigation strategies.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience required.
- Three or more years of experience in commercial credit, commercial lending, or financial examination.
- Basic understanding of loan documentation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in risk assessment.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient credit analysis and financial modeling skills.
- Good written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Basic knowledge of commercial lending guidelines and industry best practices.
- Ability to provide credit structure guidance for simple loan transactions and review internally prepared loan documentation for accuracy.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commitment to customer service excellence and relationship building.
- Desire to expand lending knowledge through external training as well as on-the-job training with more tenured portfolio managers.
