Are you an expert in optical systems looking to leave your mark cutting edge developments?
We are seeking a meticulous but also creative, self-driven Systems Engineer to lead the development of innovative end-to-end solutions for optical systems and instruments.
The Role
You will perform requirements analysis, define subsystem interfaces, and manage the technical lifecycle of complex optical instruments. From initial feasibility studies to final validation, you ensure that our hardware meets the rigorous demands of the customer's environment.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture: Conduct feasibility studies, manage error budgets, and flow down requirements to subsystems.
- Design & Specification: Define requirements for optical systems and components, including laser propagation (atmosphere/fiber) and electro-optical assemblies.
- Supplier Coordination: Oversee the design and fabrication of custom optical devices with external vendors, including component selection and technical follow-up.
- Testing & Validation: Define integration plans, test procedures (OGSE), and lead validation and calibration activities.
- System Performance: Characterize optical device performance relative to design goals and perform system-level estimates and simulations.
Your Profile
- Education: Master’s degree in Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in complex imaging systems and optical systems engineering.
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency in optical design and simulation tools (e.g., Zemax).
- Solid understanding of laser sources, coherence, and measurement techniques.
- Experience in tolerance simulations and manufacturing.
- Ability to architect and test complex electro-optical systems.
- Mindset: A team player who can collaborate effectively with electrical and mechanical engineers to debug and optimize systems.
