A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, ambitious, personable and business-savvy General Manager whose values align with our TEAM; standing for Together, Extra-mile, Accountable and Mindful. The General Manager works closely with the Regional Country Manager and HQ Team(depending on the structure of your location and country) to support ensuring the smooth running of the business and facilities across all locations in the country.
This role is an excellent opportunity to advance your career if you are a dynamic professional with a strong track record in team leadership, operations, and sales. You will be looking over 2 sites under the Australia branch of the business, with the opportunity to expand our footprint within the region. The core focus is on driving sales and ensuring a superior member experience. Success in this position requires an inspirational and accountable leader who can provide essential support, advice, and guidance to empower the team.
SALES
- Drive total revenue growth for the country, encompassing membership sales, private event bookings, and value-added services, ensuring profitability targets are exceeded
- Notify, manage and work alongside your team to ensure a high retention rate of current members
- Work together with HQ Marketing Team to develop strategies to drive membership and private event sales, increase revenue and interest for your locations
- Ensure that all enquiries are followed up on, and that negotiations and closure are taking place
- Responsible for meeting sales targets in all locations, and ensuring yourself and the team actively seek and follow up on sales leads.
- Responsible for ensuring that all tours provided across the team and by you are exemplary, following company guidelines, and ensuring the team is well-trained for their locations
- Responsible for reporting sales updates to the landlord for specific locations
- Lead market analysis and strategic expansion planning for new locations, including site selection, financial modelling, and preparing formal proposals for the Executive Team.
ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
- Own the country's full Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, directing financial performance to achieve established profitability targets and conducting monthly financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Manage and approve all capital and operating expenditures across both sites, ensuring strict adherence to the annual budget to maximise efficiency and return on investment.
- Ensure all teams meet the financial deadlines, report accurately and have the knowledge to be able to deliver what is expected
- Ensure the community team is trained on all required administration and finance tasks for their job
- Analyse and create action plans based on financial reports and data to drive forward the business
- Attend meetings and deliver presentations on the performance of your location to key stakeholders on a monthly basis
- Act as the organisation's chief representative to property landlords, cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships while promptly addressing and resolving landlord requests, facility issues, and contractual obligations
- Take responsibility for effectively communicating information from meetings to your team to ensure they are updated and aligned on company expectations
- Accountable for ensuring billing is complete, and that aged receivables are followed up with, minimising late payments, and ensuring month-end finance reporting can be completed on time.
- Understand the market through personal market research
MEMBER EXPERIENCE AND OPERATIONS
- Develop relationships with members and proactively understand their needs in order to bring ideas and recommendations to the table to exceed the expectations of every member, improving the overall member experience and increasing retention rates
- Ensuring all teams across the country are adequately solving member-related issues to help foster a collaborative community, all team members should be trained to handle feedback and to step in when needed
- Responsible for consistent member experience from sign-up to exit, and ensuring improvement opportunities are actioned by the team efficiently
- Responsible for every location team to deliver to standard the overall cleanliness of the space and venue, pantry supplies are well stocked, and the building is maintained
- Oversee facility asset management and capital improvements, directing the operations team to prioritise maintenance work that minimises member disruption and extends property lifecycle within budget
- Assess the team to ensure quality control checks are being conducted, and follow up on any issues and their progress
- Ensure you and the team deliver a personalised, high-quality member experience
EVENTS AND SOCIAL MEDIA
- Work closely with the events and marketing team to ensure events proposed and planned by the location teams are well-advertised and ensure the teams have the tools needed for the job
- Define the country's events and content strategy to enhance brand awareness, drive lead generation, and increase revenue from private events and meeting room rentals
- Ensure event collateral is to standard for every event, attend events, involvement in bigger projects and ensure events are running smoothly, giving feedback and improvements on all events to teams involved
- Responsible for ensuring that the team update social media pages (IG stories, Facebook posts, etc), creates engaging content and attends training needed to complete the task
- Attend and support external and internal events, be representative of all locations and be an ambassador of the events by encouraging others' attendance
PEOPLE
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team through consistent coaching, performance management, and the definition of a clear leadership succession pipeline
- Accountable for driving employee engagement and maintaining team retention rates to minimise recruitment costs
- Set SMART personal and professional goals for the team, and assist with training and coaching individuals to achieve them
- Responsible for overall Recruitment and ensuring teams are onboarded, trained and developed, creating clear progression pathways from performance reviews and facilitating people's movement from location to location or role to role, with support from the People team
- Conduct interviews and support your team through the hiring process, giving your feedback and ultimately making the final hiring decision with the approval from your direct manager and the Exec Team.
- Provide your team with essential training, coaching and mentorship to attract, grow and retain a strong and successful team
- Actively work and develop on your own growth to better yourself for you, your team and the business
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience, with a minimum of 1 year managing multi-site operations, a full P&L, or high-volume revenue goals.
- Personable with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptionally organised with the ability to multitask
- Thrives under pressure and is solution-oriented
- A university degree is an advantage
- Proven proficiency with CRM software, financial reporting tools, and Google Workspace.
- Proven Financial and P&L Oversight
- Prior experience in coworking, real estate, or startup business would be an advantage
- Fluent in English
