

We are looking for a Research Librarian - Canadian War Museum (CWM)
As a Research Librarian - CWM, you will be responsible for providing client services, relating specifically to personal and family military history using the CWM collections and military history sources; developing resources to guide researchers to navigate and access CWM collections; creating and assisting with programs or outreach initiatives; utilizing digital and physical platforms to increase the reach of the MHRC services to serve its many audiences; managing the library collection refinement process and cataloguing of memoirs, personal narratives and family history publications; and performs other duties as required.

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in:
· Experience conducting historical research/studies and developing related resource materials/information products, such as, handouts, annotated bibliographies, finding aids, research guides.
· Experience providing client services to a stakeholder community in a library, archives or museum client services/reference services and/or collections environment.
· Experience developing library or historical collections.
· Using an integrated library system (OCLC WMS platform and services is an asset) which may include acquisitions, cataloguing, interlibrary loans, and maintaining knowledge bases.
Knowledge of:
· Knowledge of reference librarian and historical research methods, genealogical research, use of primary and secondary sources and public history practices in a library, archive or museum setting.
· Canadian history, history of war and conflict, with Canadian military history considered an asset.
· Canadian historical and/or military records and collections, datasets, primary and secondary sources as well as stakeholder organizations/institutions.
· Proficiency utilizing/manipulating and maintaining an integrated library system including circulation, acquisitions, cataloguing, serials management, interlibrary loans, and maintaining knowledge bases.
Education: Master’s degree in library and information studies, Archival Studies, History or a related field.
Compensation: $ 79,134 to $97,933
Status: Full-Time Position of 12 months (# 9275)
Security Level: Reliability Status
Location: 1, Vimy Place, Ottawa, Ontario. The position requires onsite presence Monday-Friday.
