Position: Poker Dealer
Department: Poker
Job Summary:
Manages a poker station in accordance with the game being played.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
Deals poker games to players according to the rules of the game being played.
- Maintains an orderly table and appropriate playing speed in a courteous manner.
- Oversees the awarding of winnings.
- Calculates and collects house and promotional funds.
- Facilitates poker operations to ensure control and security of the table.
- Recognizes issues during play and obtains supervisory assistance, if necessary.
- Adheres to gaming regulations, internal controls, and departmental requirements at all times.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with guests and co-workers.
- Provides courteous service and personal assistance to promote goodwill.
- Responsible for maintaining a consistent regular attendance record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential functions of the position:
- Must be able to manage or feel objects, reach, and raise for specific job duties.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment with high noise, flashing lights and large crowds.
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members in a positive and professional manner.
- Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, reach, twist, lift, and grip throughout a shift.
- Must be able to lift, pull, or carry up to 25 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all casino-approved poker games.
- Knowledge of Tribal gaming rules and regulations for poker operations.
- Knowledge of Arizona gaming regulations for poker operations.
- Knowledge of Minimum Internal Controls (MICs).
- Knowledge of customer service/public relations techniques.
- Knowledge of basic math and money handling procedures.
- Excellent coordination and dexterity.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and guests.
- Ability to work under pressure and be detail oriented.
- Ability to understand and follow through on written or verbal instructions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must successfully pass a poker dealing audition.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a valid gaming license.
Preferred Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Graduation from an accredited Poker dealing school AND one year of poker dealing experience, preferably in a casino operation.
The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order to: (1) enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; and (4) all others who meet the position’s minimum qualifications.
