

ROLE SUMMARY
The Finance Manager oversees the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, cost control, and regulatory compliance. The role supports management by providing financial insights, managing cash flow, and monitoring costs related to shipping operations to enhance business performance and profitability.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial management, reporting, and compliance of the shipping business operations. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting and forecasting, cost control, and adherence to financial regulations while supporting the strategic growth.
The Finance Manager will manage financial planning, cash flow, and operational cost monitoring related to shipping activities including freight operations, vessel expenses, port charges, and international transactions.
DIMENSION OF POSITION:
Financial:
1. Manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning for shipping operations.
2. Monitor operational costs including freight, vessel operations, port fees, chartering expenses, and logistics-related costs.
3. Ensure accurate financial reporting, profitability analysis, and cost optimization.
4. Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and foreign currency exposure.
Staff:
1. Lead and supervise finance executives and accounting staff.
2. Provide guidance and training to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
3. Coordinate with regional finance teams where applicable.
Requirements
1. Minimum 8–10 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the shipping, logistics, freight, or trading industry.
2. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial controls.
3. Experience managing international transactions, foreign exchange exposure, and multi-currency accounts.
4. Familiarity with shipping operational costs such as chartering, bunker fuel, port charges, and freight revenue recognition is an added advantage.
5. Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
6. Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
7. Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
2. Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is preferred.
