Today, we power 85 million+ websites across 900,000+ servers worldwide, backed by a 650+ strong team of dedicated professionals spanning multiple continents. At WebPros, we embrace a fully remote, borderless workplace with a focus on flexibility, autonomy, and work-life balance. Whether you prefer working from a bustling city hub or a quiet home office, we enable our teams to thrive from anywhere while staying deeply connected through our strong collaborative culture.
What We Do
Comet Backup builds fast, secure, and flexible backup software for IT service providers, MSPs, and hosting partners around the world. Our platform powers thousands of protected endpoints across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments — giving partners full control over their customers' data, infrastructure, and margins.
We believe backup should be vendor-agnostic, infrastructure-flexible, predictable and transparent in pricing, and built for service providers — not around them.
Your Role
We're looking for a Product Marketing Manager to own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy for the Comet Backup platform. This role sits at the intersection of product, marketing, sales, and customer success — and is responsible for clearly articulating why Comet exists, who it's for, and why it wins, especially in a crowded, noisy backup and data protection market.
You'll translate deep technical capabilities into compelling narratives that resonate with MSP operators, technical decision-makers, and business owners. You'll help bring new platform capabilities to market, sharpen our competitive story, and equip our internal teams to win and retain the right customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the platform narrative — Develop and evolve Comet's core positioning, value propositions, and differentiation across product areas including endpoints, workloads, storage targets, and security.
- Drive go-to-market launches — Partner closely with Product and Engineering to turn new features and releases into compelling launch stories, customer value, and partner outcomes.
- Enable sales and partner teams to win — Create battlecards, competitive positioning assets, and objection-handling frameworks that help sales and partner teams win, retain, and expand accounts.
- Bridge product and market — Feed real market and customer feedback into roadmap conversations, ensuring Comet builds what the market actually needs.
- Fuel demand generation — Collaborate with Growth and Content teams to build campaigns grounded in real customer pain, ensuring messaging consistency across the website, documentation, sales collateral, and partner communications.
- Build messaging that scales — Create messaging frameworks that hold across the full platform and adapt fluidly for technical buyers, business owners, and channel partners.
- Champion clarity — Act as the internal product evangelist, ensuring every team — from sales to support — can articulate what Comet does and why it matters.
Your Qualifications
Must-haves:
- 5+ years in Product Marketing, ideally in B2B SaaS
- Proven experience marketing technical platforms to technical and semi-technical buyers
- Strong familiarity with MSPs, IT service providers, or infrastructure software (backup, DR, security, cloud, or hosting)
- Demonstrated ability to build positioning, messaging, and enablement assets that actually get adopted and used
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication — especially when explaining complex systems to diverse audiences
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with backup, data protection, or MSP channel-led go-to-market motions
- Familiarity with partner/channel ecosystems and reseller dynamics
- Experience influencing product roadmap decisions with market and customer insights
Your Impact in the First 120 Days
Days 1–30 — Learn & Integrate
- Complete onboarding and immerse yourself in the Comet Backup platform — understand the product deeply, including its architecture, workloads, and storage integrations
- Meet stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to map the current state of messaging and GTM
- Audit existing positioning, messaging assets, and competitive materials to identify gaps and opportunities
Days 31–60 — Contribute & Collaborate
- Develop a first draft of a refreshed messaging framework for the core platform, grounded in conversations with customers and partners
- Shadow the sales team and join partner conversations to understand how Comet is being positioned in the field and where the story breaks down
- Contribute to at least one active product launch or feature release, supporting messaging and enablement from end to end
Days 61–90 — Take Ownership
- Deliver a refined, cross-functionally reviewed platform narrative and messaging hierarchy
- Produce first-round enablement assets — competitive battlecards, a partner-facing value deck, or updated website copy — ready for team use
- Lead a competitive positioning workshop or team session to align internal stakeholders on differentiation and key win themes
Days 91–120 — Drive Growth
- Own the GTM playbook for an upcoming product launch or platform milestone end-to-end
- Establish a repeatable feedback loop between Sales, CS, and Product to keep messaging rooted in market reality
- Demonstrate measurable impact: assets being used, improved win-rate conversations, or clearer positioning reflected across channels
You Might Thrive Here If You…
- Enjoy working in a remote, async-first environment and own your calendar without being micromanaged
- Get energized by making complex technical concepts simple and compelling — not just for marketers, but for engineers and sales reps too
- Have strong opinions about positioning but hold them loosely — and back them up with evidence, not instinct alone
- Move fast, write clearly, and ship things that are good enough to be useful rather than perfect enough to be late
- Are comfortable being the connective tissue between Product, Marketing, and Sales — and thrive in ambiguity that comes with a fast-moving product organization
You Might Struggle Here If You…
- Need detailed briefs and structured top-down direction to get moving
- Prefer specializing in one channel or campaign type rather than owning a full GTM motion
- Are uncomfortable working cross-functionally with engineers and technical product managers
- Find it hard to adapt messaging quickly when the product or market moves faster than expected
- Measure success by output volume (decks produced, emails sent) rather than business impact (pipeline influenced, deals won)
