The Senior Software Specialist role supports the delivery of building controls system solutions across large, complex construction and retrofit projects. This role is responsible for the design, configuration, integration, and support of control software used in building automation, analytics, and system interoperability.
Working closely with project managers, controls engineers, field teams, and clients, this position plays a key role in ensuring systems are delivered reliably, tested thoroughly, and transitioned successfully into operation.

- Support project delivery by providing reliable, well‑integrated control system software solutions
- Improve system performance and stability through strong design and troubleshooting practices
- Enable effective collaboration between software, controls, customer IT, and field teams
- Contribute to consistent standards and best practices across IBT projects
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and support software used in building automation systems
- Support system architecture, design reviews, and implementation planning
- Integrate software with building automation systems, networks, and third‑party platforms
- Troubleshoot software, system, and network issues during commissioning and post‑handover
- Support testing, verification, and validation of software and system functionality
- Participate in site activities as required to support system startup and issue resolution
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including configurations and as‑built information
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers and project teams to meet delivery schedules
- Contribute to internal tools, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members as appropriate
Must-Haves
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Software, Computer, Automation, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a software, systems integration, or technical support role
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in a project‑based or construction‑related environment
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
- Familiar with heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment such as air handling units, boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, heat pumps, variable air volume boxes etc.
- Experience working with the Tridium Niagara Framework for building automation systems.
- Experience with building automation or controls systems
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of OT/IT networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, VLANs)
- Scripting or programming experience (Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar)
- Experience supporting commissioning and live operational systems
- Familiarity with healthcare, commercial, or institutional projects
This is a new position. Expected annual compensation; $90,000 - $120,000
