Hours of Work: Temp. Sat. & Sun. 7p-11:15p (17 hrs. biweekly) (Grand Manor) (LPN)
The job responsibilities are as follows:
- Providing safe, competent, and ethical client care to their full scope of practice and within the requirements of their regulatory college Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Ensuring that nursing knowledge is current and possessing the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes, and clinical judgment to fulfil their role.
- Identifying when HCAs require assistance, competency, and/or assignment is beyond their education and/or ability and ensuring assistance is sought out.
- Demonstrating leadership within the health-care team through supervision and mentoring of Health Care Aides.
- Participating in complaint resolution with the team, clients, family members, or others and ensuring the complaint is addressed or communicated to the appropriate person to ensure follow-up is completed.
- Developing the therapeutic nurse-client relationship and applying the ethical framework of this relationship.
- Adhering to all legal requirements of nursing practice and documentation.
- Maintaining client confidentiality in written, oral and electronic communication.
- Supporting the health care aids in progressing their competencies and delegating tasks to them as needed and within their competencies.
- Contributing to a culture of safety, identifying safety concerns, and ensuring safety concerns are addressed.
- Performing ongoing evaluation throughout delivery of care.
Requirements
- Current and active registration in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Alberta.
- Maintain certification in First Aid & CPR Level C
- Satisfactory current criminal record check.
