Manufacturing Engineering Specialist - Finishing The successful candidate's responsibilities will include: • Lead machine/system upgrades, relocations, commissioning, and decommissioning efforts, coordinating with contractors, maintenance teams, and cross-functional departments to ensure seamless execution. • Support product launches and changes, including verification of part design compatibility with finishing requirements. • Coordinate and manage manufacturing support projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance, and meeting all scope requirements. • Provide production support through machinery/process troubleshooting, testing, and validation to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. • Identify and spearhead initiatives to resolve equipment and process safety hazards, ensuring compliance with CSA standards and a safe working environment. • Collaborate with EHS teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet environmental, chemical handling, and regulatory requirements. • Validate, enhance, and document manufacturing processes for parts and assemblies across multiple business units and plants, ensuring consistency and quality. • Lead the identification, financial justification, and implementation of new machinery/systems, automation solutions, and strategic-level process improvements to optimize production. • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, SMED, line balancing, waste reduction, time studies, and Kanban to drive continuous improvement. • Maintain and optimize shop floor layouts using 2D CAD software and analytical methods for efficient space and resource utilization. • Design and implement storage and transportation solutions for raw materials and WIP. • Design and implement safety guards, fixtures, tools, machine modifications, and other production implements. • Develop and maintain job instruction documentation, lead training sessions for production staff, and conduct regular process audits. • Assist maintenance and production teams with setting up preventative maintenance procedures. • Respond to quality concerns and support their resolution. • Lead project introduction and review meetings, along with delivery of structured status updates, providing clear communication on scope, schedule, risks, and deliverables.
The ideal candidate for this position will have: • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field. • Proficient in CAD software (2D and 3D) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with SharePoint or database management is an asset. • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and delivering results. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decisions. • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, and drawing interpretation. • Experience in mechanical design, tooling, and sheet metal manufacturing processes is highly desirable. • Familiarity with anodizing, metal surface treatments, or other industrial finishing processes (e.g., liquid painting, powder coating) is considered an asset. • Experience with environmental regulations, chemical handling procedures, and waste management. • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across all levels of an organization. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality results. • Dedicated to continuous improvement and staying up to date with industry best practices. • Strong affiliation with Price’s core values.
