Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks.
- Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, clutches, and electrical systems.
- Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to ensure accurate assessments and repairs.
- Clearly communicate findings, recommended repairs, and service updates with Service Advisors and Parts Counter Associates.
- Maintain detailed repair orders and documentation of all repairs in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
- Road test vehicles to confirm proper repairs when required.
- Participate in our OEM-directed training path to stay current on new technologies, repair techniques, and warranty guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste disposal, etc.).
- Keep the shop area clean and organized, ensuring all tools are maintained properly.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty truck repairs preferred.
- Proficiency in diagnostic fault-code troubleshooting using laptop-based software.
- Ability to navigate dealer management and OEM diagnostic systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay technical information clearly.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks such as walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Forklift operation experience is a plus but not required.
- Sound judgment and ability to make logical decisions in a fast-paced service environment.
- Ability to remain professional at all times and work collaboratively with other technicians to complete repairs.
Education & Work Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of hands-on mechanical experience or completion of/active enrollment in an accredited diesel program required
- Basic tool set required – specialty tools provided.
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL not required but preferred
- Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) is a plus.
