Position Overview
The EHS Engineer is responsible for leading and advancing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and foster a strong culture of safety and sustainability. This role partners cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Conduct audits and assessments; implement corrective actions
- Lead initiatives to reduce waste, conserve resources, and improve sustainability
Health & Safety
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and hazard identification
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures
- Promote a proactive, safety-first culture across the organization
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and interpret EHS regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA)
- Support inspections, audits, and permitting activities
- Maintain accurate compliance documentation and reporting
Training & Engagement
- Deliver EHS training and ensure employee awareness of responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support on EHS-related matters
- Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives
Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyze EHS performance metrics (KPIs)
- Identify risks and opportunities; implement corrective actions
- Drive ongoing improvements in safety and environmental performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of EHS experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and related regulations
- Proven ability to lead initiatives and influence across teams
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Certifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred
