WHO
we’re looking for:
The Advanced Intelligence Lab is seeking an Interaction Designer (AI Systems) to drive the next evolution of Bixby, an intelligent personal assistant. This role focuses on designing intuitive, high-quality AI interfaces that enhance user experiences and bring Bixby closer to becoming the primary entry point for interacting with products across the product ecosystem – from mobile and wearable devices to TVs and smart home appliances.
As an Interaction Designer, you'll bring AI strategy and product direction to life through visual design, interaction design, prototyping, and storytelling. You'll contribute to projects across the design lifecycle – from early concepts through launch and iteration – translating product requirements into clear, well-crafted interfaces. You'll work closely with other designers, product management, engineering, NLU, and research teams, as well as our design partners Korea, to deliver experiences that are user-centered, technically feasible, and cohesive across surfaces.
We’re looking for a designer with a high bar for craft – someone who thinks in states, behaviors, and systems, and enjoys turning complex AI interactions into clear, well-designed interfaces. This role emphasizes execution, prototyping, and polish over product ownership. A detail-oriented designer who combines strong craft with thoughtful problem-solving to create intuitive, user-focused experiences.
The Advanced Intelligence Lab is working towards a vision of a world-class voice assistant that provides a unified AI experience across multiple devices (Galaxy Smartphones, Galaxy Watch & Smart home appliances like TVs, Family Hub, IoT devices etc.) with deep integration and building AI-assisted services and intelligent solutions.
Work is on applied research, innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our users by promoting new technologies to make best user experience with Bixby on devices to be intuitive, faster, seamless, more powerful, and multi-dimensional across different product domains/categories. The goal is to improve user lifestyles through technology advancement and experience enrichment.
Role
and Responsibilities:
Drive end-to-end execution of UI and interaction design. Produce high-fidelity, production-ready designs for AI-powered features across mobile and multi-device experiences, with a strong emphasis on visual quality, interaction detail, and polish.
Prototype interactions, not just screens. Build visual and interactive prototypes that demonstrate flows, states, transitions, and edge cases, enabling rapid iteration and alignment with product and engineering.
Design for real system behavior. Account for loading, errors, ambiguity, partial results, and asynchronous states common in AI-powered experiences.
Translate defined product directions into concrete design solutions. Take clear requirements and turn them into thoughtful flows, interaction patterns, and refined user interfaces.
Work within and extend design systems. Use existing components effectively and evolve where necessary, ensuring consistency and scalability across surfaces.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners. Work with designers, product managers, and engineers to refine and iterate designs, provide specs, support implementation, and ensure high-quality execution.
Communicate work with clarity and precision. Present designs with clear rationale, focusing on interaction decisions and trade-offs rather than broad product strategy.
Required Experience and Education:
3+ years of experience in visual or interaction design within product or UX teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferred in visual design, HCI, computer science, or a related field – or equivalent experience.
Experience contributing to design systems.
Strong design portfolio demonstrating the best of your craft.
Interaction thinking for AI systems: Experience designing for dynamic states, such as loading, ambiguity, errors, and multi-step or asynchronous interactions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in Figma or similar design and prototyping tools.
Experience designing for AI-powered products or systems.
Familiarity in incorporating AI tools into design workflows.
Necessary Skills and Attributes:
Self-motivated
individual with the ability to thrive in a team-based or
independent environment.
Detail-oriented with strong
organization skills.
Ability to work in a
fast-paced environment.
Limited supervision
and the exercise of discretion.
User-centered expertise: Strong understanding of user behaviors and interaction patterns, with the ability to design intuitive, effective experiences.
Visual interaction design: Proven ability to design high-quality interfaces with attention to hierarchy, layout, and consistency. Experience working within and contributing to design systems.
Prototyping and innovation: Ability to rapidly prototype interactions and flows, test ideas, and refine solutions based on feedback and real-world constraints, bringing bold ideas and user scenarios to life.
HCI & research awareness: Familiarity with human-computer interaction principles and the ability to incorporate user insights into design decisions.
Collaboration and communication: Ability to clearly present design work, articulate decisions, and partner effectively with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
