The Narrow Mid-Web (NMW) Process Specialist plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional customer experience through technical demonstrations and process expertise. This position is responsible for showcasing the capabilities of BOBST NMW equipment and clearly communicating process advantages to customers.
As a key point of contact during customer visits, you will lead demonstration runs, define optimized processes, and provide hands-on training—ensuring customers fully understand and realize the value of BOBST solutions.
Customer Demonstrations & Process Support - Analyze customer graphics and packaging structures to define optimal process parameters
- Lead demonstration press, trials, and validation activities
- Clearly explain printing and converting processes to customers during live sessions
- Showcase equipment capabilities and final product quality
Machine Operation - Set up and operate the BOBST DIGITAL MASTER 340 Hybrid press and/or BOBST M6 press, along with laminators, plate mounters, inspection systems, and quality tools
- Adjust print and process parameters to meet customer specifications
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues during trials
- Conduct quality checks on printed and laminated materials
- Prepare inks, adhesives, and substrates for production runs
- Ensure full compliance with safety standards and best practices
Equipment & Work Area Management - Perform minor maintenance and routine checks on presses and tooling
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Manage inventory of inks, solvents, adhesives, and substrates
- Track material usage and support compliance reporting
- Ensure proper waste handling and disposal
Training & Events - Deliver process training sessions based on established programs
- Support development of training materials and content
- Assist in planning and executing Competence Center events and demonstrations
- Support additional equipment and team activities as needed
Collaboration - Partner with sales, technical, and training teams to deliver tailored customer solutions
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate actively in team meetings and cross-functional projects
What You Bring- Strong hands-on experience in flexographic printing and NMW (narrow/mid-web) processes
- Experience operating hybrid and/or Flexo printing presses
- Deep understanding of:
- Printing plates, mounting methods, and materials
- Inks, solvents, color matching, and drying variables
- Anilox rollers and their impact on print quality
- Packaging substrates and web handling (tension, heat, etc.)
- Experience with laminating, coating, or adhesive processes (preferred)
- Working knowledge of prepress and graphic workflows
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers in technical discussions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business tools
