Location: Paul L. Dunbar Elementary School (2159 W 29th St, Cleveland 44113)
Wage Information: Part-time hourly position commensurate with education, experience and Career Pathway Level in OCCRRA; pay rate ranges from $15.00 to $17.50 per hour.
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Dates of Summer Camp and General Hours: June 9-July 10, 2026 from 12 pm - 4:30 pm (please note the below items)
A paid full-day mandatory training will take place the week before summer camp (tentatively on Wednesday, June 3 from 8 am – 4:30 pm; pizza lunch will be provided).
An additional 9.5 hours of online childcare-related training must be completed before the first day of summer camp. Training may be completed on a computer at home or by scheduling time to come in during the week of June 1. Staff will be paid for their time once verification is submitted through payroll. More information will be given during the onboarding process for those who are hired.
Paul Dunbar will be closed on June 19, 2026 and July 3, 2026. Staff will not be paid for these days off.
Job Description:
Responsible for the care and supervision of children in the classroom – build rapport and classroom management
Implement engaging age-appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities
Support community partners in providing enrichment activities
Manage a classroom environment that is fun and engaging
Parent engagement and communication
Build positive relationships with children, families, and other staff members through prompt and accurate response and service, cheerful and professional attitude, and problem-solving spirit
Work independently with a group of children and as part of a team with other staff and the Site Coordinator
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with personnel and family information
Maintain documentation for services provided, including attendance and snack
Assist with student dismissal
Assist with student lunch time
Assist and support the Site Coordinator in data collection and good record keeping
All other duties as needed/assigned
QualificationsQualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Experience in a classroom setting and with children preferred
Willingness to update job knowledge with required DCY Licensing Rules and SUTQ professional development opportunities and industry trends
Must be able to adapt quickly to changing environments and assignments as required
We seek someone who is prompt and reliable and who possesses a genuine love of children
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs. as required
Must be able to pass background checks and physical/medical screening as required
