Senior Product Designer — Lumion
Location: South Jordan, Utah (on-site, 5 days/week)
Reports to: Josh (CEO/Co-founder) and Derrick (CTO/Co-founder)
Lumion is building the operating system for trade schools — the institutions training the electricians, welders, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and skilled tradespeople the U.S. economy runs on. These schools serve students who often can't or don't want to take a traditional four-year path, and they've historically been stuck running their entire operation on a patchwork of spreadsheets, paper forms, and software built for a different era.
We're changing that. Our platform powers recruitment, enrollment, payments, communications, attendance, and reporting for trade schools across the United States — and the work we ship directly affects whether students get into programs, stay enrolled, and graduate into careers that change the trajectory of their families.
Direct line to the founders. You'll report to the CEO and CTO and have real influence on the company's direction — not three layers down from where decisions get made.
End-to-end ownership of a multi-product platform. Most PMs spend years waiting to own surface area like this. You'll have it on day one.
Velocity most PMs never get to experience. We ship major products in weeks, not quarters. AI is woven into every step of how we work — prototyping, PRDs, audits, customer research — so the leverage per person is enormous.
No design-team bottleneck. You'll prototype directly in high-fidelity HTML using AI tools. Your taste and judgment ship to customers, not someone else's interpretation of them.
Equity in a company with real momentum in a market that's been underserved for decades.
Own the product roadmap across multiple concurrent workstreams, with a minimum of 45-day forward planning horizon, and a 90-day target
Lead monthly planning cycles: source ideas from the team, validate with customers, and run prioritization with leadership
Tie product decisions directly to business outcomes — ARR, retention, and go-to-market milestones
Build high-fidelity HTML prototypes using AI tools before writing PRDs — the prototype is the source of truth
Translate prototypes into precise functional requirements that an AI-assisted engineering team can execute against
Make UX calls independently: navigation, terminology, conditional logic, mobile-first behavior
Write clear, complete PRDs that serve as the single source of truth for development
Use AI comparison tools to catch gaps between designs and documentation before development begins
Document every visual decision in writing so engineering can move autonomously
Participate in daily standups across 2–3 engineering teams
Run a weekly Product & Engineering operating cadence with 10+ stakeholders
Host a weekly Product AMA open to the full company
Coordinate go-to-market launches with CS, marketing, and sales — including launch sequencing, school comms, and feature flag management
Run customer discovery interviews that surface real needs, not just feature requests
Lead customer deep-dive sessions
Translate feedback into prioritized, well-rationalized product requirements
Maintain a structured knowledge base across your product areas
Create page templates and conventions that keep documentation consistent
Spend time each week on Notion housekeeping so the team always has the latest source of truth
Hands-on experience using AI tools throughout the product workflow — prototyping, documentation, research
Strong prototyping skills (you are the designer here)
Experience working with API integrations and third-party systems
Ability to write precise, comprehensive PRDs that AI-assisted engineers can build from without ambiguity
Customer discovery expertise — you can run conversations that get past surface-level requests
Comfort with data: usage metrics, funnel analysis, financial models
Strong self-direction and the ability to manage 3–5 concurrent workstreams
Background in payments, fintech, or financial workflows
Experience with CRM, marketing automation, or enrollment systems
Familiarity with trade school, vocational education, or workforce development markets
Prior work in a startup or high-growth SaaS environment
Experience with compliance-sensitive communications (SMS/TCR, digital signatures, FAFSA)
Worth being upfront about how we operate, so you can decide if it's the right fit:
Pace. We ship fast. Major products go out in weeks, not quarters. Velocity is a core operating principle.
Process. We've moved away from heavy scrum ceremonies in favor of daily standups and prototype-driven iteration. Lightweight by design.
AI-first. AI tools are part of daily work — prototyping, PRDs, audit automation, research. Comfort with these tools is a baseline, not a bonus.
Ownership. You'll make consequential calls independently and defend them to leadership. We trust people to own outcomes.
Ambiguity. Roadmaps shift as we learn. You should find that energizing rather than frustrating.
You prefer rigid, ceremony-heavy PM methodologies (story points, lengthy sprint rituals, waterfall PRD processes)
You rely on a design team or UX researcher to handle discovery and prototyping for you
You struggle to context-switch between strategy and detailed execution
Evolving requirements and fast-moving leadership decisions feel destabilizing rather than exciting
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Meaningful equity in a high-growth SaaS company
On-site in South Jordan, Utah, five days a week — no relocation assistance provided
Direct reporting line to the CEO and CTO with high visibility across the organization
Unlimited PTO
Free lunch each day
Lumion is building the operating system for trade schools. If you want to work on products that directly affect students' access to skilled-trades education — and you're ready to ship faster than you ever have, with more ownership than most PMs ever get — we want to talk.
