Position Summary: The Art Department at North Greenville University is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking professional to teach core ARTS courses. The ideal candidate will not only have knowledge of the scope of Art History, but also be familiar with the concepts and technology involved with the Graphic Design industry.
Applicants should have a background and/or professional experience in Art involving Graphic Design and knowledge of Art History. Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework.
North Greenville University is a teaching university of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith, are role models in their piety and ethics, are regularly reflecting upon how their faith influences their discipline and are willing and able to mentor students in their own relationship with Jesus Christ. Faculty are expected to:
Teach in accordance with, and not contrary to the “Baptist Faith and Message 2000.”
Teach in accordance with, and not contrary to the university’s “Statement on Human Flourishing.”
Abide by the employee and faculty handbooks, including community standard agreements.
Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct classes as assigned
Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
Prepare lesson plans and course material as required
Effectively organize and present subject matter to students
Objectively assess students for academic performance
Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation
Effectively utilize Canvas learning management system
Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy
Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission
Have a working knowledge of the latest software and technology related to the Graphic Design industry.

Mobility: Able to move between buildings and attend classes, meetings, and functions across campus.
Speaking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, professionally, and with a contextually appropriate tone and volume.
Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and express emotions and thoughts in an honest, collegial, constructive, and prudent manner.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Art adjuncts first report to the Chair of the Art Department, the Associate Dean of the School of the Arts, and the Dean of Communications and Fine Arts.
WORK SCHEDULE
The working hours of the University are M-F 8:00 to 5:00, however times beyond those may be required. The schedule of the adjunct will be determined by the mutually determined teaching assignments.
Qualifications
MA in Art, Studio Art, or Visual Arts
Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree, MFA or Ph.D.
Experience and a passion for teaching
Understand and comply with FERPA regulations
Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model
