We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our TOTAL backend team in Helsinki.
F-Secure TOTAL is our flagship consumer security product, protecting users across iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. As we continue to scale, we’re working to bring more structure and consistency to how data is generated and used across platforms.
In this role, you’ll contribute to building a more unified and reliable data foundation together with our central data engineering team. This work will enable multiple use cases across the business – from product development to customer experience and security insights.
You'll work alongside the central data engineering team (who have built our data platform using tools like Databricks and Kafka), as well as a Senior Data Engineer within the team, to build a harmonized data product that represents the key data points of TOTAL. This is foundational work that will enable multiple high-impact use cases across the business
This role is based in Helsinki, Finland, and we work in a hybrid setting with flexibility to work from home while coming together for collaboration at our modern HQ.
Key responsibilities in this role:
Supporting data harmonization efforts
- Working with data from multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows)
- Helping structure and transform data into more consistent formats
- Contributing to a shared, evolving data model across TOTAL
Building and improving data pipelines
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines on top of our existing platform (Databricks, Kafka)
- Working with ETL/ELT processes, including writing and optimizing SQL-based transformations
- Supporting data quality and reliability through validation, testing, and debugging of data pipelines
- Collaborating on data transformations and modeling
Enabling data-driven use cases
- Supporting product and analytics teams with clean, usable data
- Contributing to features like personalized user insights and product usage understanding
- Helping improve data availability for security and threat-related use cases
Working together across teams
- Collaborating closely with our central data engineering team
- Working with product managers, analysts, and engineers
- Learning how different teams use data and supporting their needs
What are we looking for?
- Hands-on experience in data engineering, with ability to work independently on data pipelines and transformations
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with data transformation in practice
- Experience working with Databricks and Kafka in a production environment
- Experience working in a cloud environment, preferably AWS
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and building data pipelines
- Understanding of data modeling and how data supports different use cases
- Familiarity with event-driven or streaming data
- Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders and translate needs into data solutions
- Fluent English for working in an international team

- Exposure to telemetry or event-based data
- Experience working across multiple data sources
- Curiosity towards how data supports business and product decisions
