A Workshop Facilitator position is open at the Smith School of Business to facilitate a communications workshop for Master of Financial Innovation & Technology students. This three-hour workshop (8:30 to 11:30) will be delivered in-person as part of the opening session.
The workshop is described as follows:
Purpose
Our MFIT graduates are technically sharp and business-ready. What's missing is the bridge between insight and action: communication. Data fluency without storytelling skills means great analysis that goes unused. We're closing that gap; because in practice, the analyst who can tell a compelling story with data is the one who moves organizations forward.
Learning Objectives
1. Presentations Skills:
• Students will learn how to structure presentations and develop public speaking ability.
2. Data storytelling:
• Students will learn how to most effectively present data insights to a non-technical audience.
3. Persuasion:
• Students will learn how to leverage persuasive appeals to build support for their ideas.
4. Communication Strategy:
• Students will learn how to effectively strategize and plan clear and concise communications (written and verbal). The framework will include context analysis, audience analysis and a repeatable process for establishing a coherent controlling idea.
5. Verbal and Nonverbal Communications:
• Students will learn how to leverage body language and voice (tone, pacing, register, etc.) to communicate effectively.
6. Personal Development:
• Students will have the opportunity to participate in case studies and reflect on their personal communications playbook covering their highest-leverage improvement area.
