Position Overview
We are seeking for a dynamic and motivated experienced professional to join our Finance Team as a Bank Accountant.
By joining this role, you will be part of the unit who develops and implements effective and efficient financial planning, reporting, and accounting systems that help the front office achieve their objectives and the management to improve their decision making.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Prepare and record general ledger entries, ensuring integrity and consistency with Lux GAAP and IFRS.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for assigned areas.
- Prepare and/or review Lux GAAP financial statements and IFRS reporting packages to Head Office.
- Perform reconciliations (bank, nostros, balance sheet) and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare and review VAT and corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with local requirements.
- Perform analytical reviews and explain variances to management.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over accounting processes.
- Act as a key contact for auditors and contribute to process improvements and ad-hoc initiatives.
Requirements
You will be a great candidate if you ha:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting within a banking, financial services, or audit environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lux GAAP and IFRS; good understanding of banking products is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger, financial close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g. SAP) and core banking platforms (e.g. Temenos T24) is an advantage.
- Experience with reconciliation tools (e.g. Corona or similar) is considered a strong asset.
- Good understanding of tax matters (VAT, corporate tax) in a Luxembourg context.
- Ability to independently manage end-to-end accounting processes in a lean team environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to investigate and explain variances.
- Experience interacting with auditors and operating under regulatory constraints is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills (handling large datasets, reconciliations, analysis).
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of French and/or Greek is considered an asset.
