About the Nanophysics Group
The PhD position is embedded within Reykjavík University’s Nanophysics Group, which conducts both experimental and theoretical research on nanoscale and microscale systems. The group specializes in the fabrication and characterization of nanostructures, including silicon nanowires, thin films, and nanoparticles. On the theoretical side, the group performs advanced simulations of vacuum electronic devices, electron transport, semiconductor heterostructures, and core‑shell nanowires. Ongoing research covers vacuum diodes, nanowire‑based devices, semiconductor oxides, and multiphysics simulations, providing strong synergy with the project. The group offers an interdisciplinary environment combining materials science, plasma processes, and device engineering.
