WANDOO WOMEN’S PRISON THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY (TC)

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Counsellor Educator for WANDOO WOMEN’S PRISON THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY (TC). The Counsellor Educator will have a strong focus on consumer engagement and provide professional alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling, group therapy, psychoeducation and support to residents in the Wandoo Women’s Prison Therapeutic Community.

About the Organisation

Cyrenian House have been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981, and in 2018 commenced service at Wandoo Women’s Prison TC, this being the only prison TC operated in Western Australia and has achieved remarkable results since its inception.

This role is full-time, 76 hours per fortnight. Level 4 - Level 5, salary $93,490 - $110,413 per annum plus superannuation and salary packaging options.

To be appointed / successful in this role, you will require the following key qualifications, skills and experience:

• Have a degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and other drug sector.
• Demonstrated knowledge of “Community as a method Treatment Model”.
• Well demonstrated and well-developed assessment and group counselling skills.  
• Demonstrated understanding of working with consumers experiencing issues related to alcohol and other drug use, incarceration, family and domestic violence and mental health issues.
• Well-developed self-management skills to cope with difficult cases and manage stress.
• Excellent written communication skills, preferably with report writing experience.
• Adept in self-management, including the competent use of software, such as Microsoft Office and learning specialised applications.
• Full Work rights, Current Driver’s Licence, National Police Clearance, and current First Aid Certificate. Commencement will be subject to employment screening clearance granted by DOJ.
