The Associate will join the Global Portfolio Reporting & Valuations (PRV) team in Madrid, with primary responsibility for a portfolio of European Technology investments. The PRV team (Madrid & Tampa) is responsible for:
- Portfolio data governance and integrity
- Performance analytics and investment case tracking
- Quarterly fair value assessment (valuations) across ~85 companies
- Valuation audit coordination and documentation
This role combines financial analysis, valuation modelling, portfolio company engagement and systems development. PRV operates as a centralised function with a dual mandate:
- Firm-wide mandate:
Provide Permira leadership with a consolidated, consistent and governance-compliant view of portfolio performance and valuation across funds.
- Sector mandate:
Partner closely with each of Permira’s four sectors, delivering sector-specific analytics, data support and valuation insight tailored to investment team needs.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
Valuation
- Lead quarterly fair value assessment for assigned assets
- Develop and maintain valuation models (comps, transactions, scenarios)
- Document methodology and assumptions in line with IPEV and audit standards
- Support fund-level audit and governance processes
Performance Analytics
- Deliver forward-looking performance analysis (not only historical reporting)
- Analyse performance vs. underwriting case and budget
- Identify early signals on revenue quality, margin pressure, working capital or liquidity
- Provide structured commentary to IC, ExCo, Capital Formation, Financing teams as well as sectors and DTs
Data & Reporting Governance
- Own monthly data collection and validation process
- Ensure KPI definitions are consistent and meaningful
- Improve accuracy, completeness and timeliness of portfolio data
- Lead onboarding of new investments onto internal systems
Forward-Looking & Exit Modelling
- Support deal teams on exit case scenarios and sensitivity analysis
- Assess implications of operational changes on valuation
- Support capital structure analysis and refinancing scenarios
- Provide analytical input into hold/sell discussions
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3–5 years experience in: Transaction Services / Valuation Advisory or Private Equity portfolio monitoring or Technology-focused investment banking (preferred)
- Fluent in English
- Strong understanding of software and recurring revenue models
- Advanced financial modelling capability
