As Moderna continues to scale globally, this role sits at the heart of our Moderna Enterprise Solutions Hub (MESH) in Warsaw, supporting direct tax operations across 20+ countries.
You will operate as a key individual contributor, owning end-to-end tax compliance, reporting, and accounting activities while partnering across a highly matrixed global organization.
This is a highly technical, detail-oriented position with a strong emphasis on leveraging technology and AI to drive efficiency, scalability, and smarter decision-making in tax operations.
Here's What You'll Do:
Act as a key point of contact for assigned jurisdictions, coordinating closely with internal teams including GL, AP, Legal, Controllership, and Finance, as well as external tax advisors across a global portfolio of 20+ countries.
Support corporate tax compliance activities, covering both income and non-income-based taxes, ensuring timely and accurate submission of direct tax returns in collaboration with external advisors.
Manage withholding tax compliance by analyzing obligations, ensuring proper documentation, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Prepare US GAAP tax reporting, including tax provisions, return-to-provision adjustments, tax account reconciliations, and supporting tax balance sheet reviews.
Prepare and review tax-related journal entries with a strong command of debits and credits, ensuring accurate recording of tax activity within the general ledger.
Oversee tax payments, including monitoring prepayments, reconciling tax accounts, and coordinating payment execution with finance teams.
Partner with accounting teams to support statutory financial statements, tax accounting matters, and close processes across multiple jurisdictions globally.
Support data collection and documentation requirements for government audits, financial audits, and tax notices.
Drive process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives across tax operations to enhance controls, efficiency, and scalability.
Leverage technology and AI-driven tools to streamline recurring processes, improve data integrity, enhance reporting capabilities, and enable more informed decision-making.
Actively contribute to ad hoc tax projects, demonstrating the ability to explore multiple options in parallel and deliver optimal outcomes.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Tax, Accounting, Finance, Controllership, Legal, and broader business stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational excellence.
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business processes, identify risks, and design more efficient, technology-enabled ways of working.
Take ownership of additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and a proactive approach in support of Moderna’s mission.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related discipline required.
4+ years of related experience in direct taxes required; public accounting and/or shared service center experience is a plus.
Strong tax technical skills, including expertise in Corporate Income Tax and other direct taxes.
Strong foundation in tax accounting and general accounting principles, including experience with journal entries, debits and credits, and account reconciliations.
Proficiency in English (verbal and/or written) required due to global collaboration needs.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with financial systems including SAP, BlackLine, and Microsoft Office products.
Experience using technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve tax processes and reduce manual work.
Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and willing to roll up your sleeves to drive results, meet deadlines, and improve processes.
Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams in a global environment.
Demonstrated experience with process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency.
Commitment to continuous learning and personal development, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent English skills, both written and verbal. Additional language is a plus.
