Job Overview:
LPL’s Security Architecture & Engineering team is seeking a senior level AVP, DLP & AI Data Protection Engineer to lead and evolve our enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program with a specific focus on AI‑driven data flows, machine‑learning platforms, and next‑generation data protection controls. This role is responsible for engineering and operationalizing data protection capabilities that safeguard sensitive financial, customer, and employee data across traditional enterprise environments and AI‑enabled platforms. The AVP will work closely with LPL AI, cloud, and application engineering teams to support AI data‑protection proof of concepts (POCs), production AI initiatives, and regulatory‑aligned controls. The role requires strong technical depth in DLP engineering, AI data governance, and data‑security architecture. This position plays a key role in shaping the future‑state data protection and Responsible AI security posture at LPL.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain DLP controls across endpoints, email, SaaS, cloud platforms, APIs, and AI/ML data pipelines.
Engineer DLP solutions that address AI‑specific risks, including:
Training‑data leakage
Prompt and response data exposure
Model input/output inspection
Sensitive data misuse in AI experimentation and inference
Partner with AI engineering teams to embed security‑by‑design controls into AI platforms and workflows.
Integrate DLP solutions with SIEM, CASB/CSPM, endpoint protection, cloud security, and AI observability platforms.
Develop automation and scripting to support policy enforcement, exception handling, redaction, and data classification across dynamic environments.
Evaluate emerging technologies for AI data protection, DSPM, and next‑generation DLP capabilities.
Tune DLP policies to minimize false positives while maintaining strong data‑exfiltration and misuse controls—especially in AI‑driven workflows.
Assess existing DLP coverage and identify gaps across legacy systems, cloud platforms, AI tools, and third‑party services.
Stay current with emerging threats, AI security patterns, and regulatory developments, recommending updates to DLP and AI data‑protection strategy.
Partner with data owners, legal, privacy, compliance, AI teams, and business units to understand data flows and protection requirements.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a hands‑on security engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of DLP, AI, and enterprise data protection. The ideal candidate is comfortable influencing architecture decisions, working with senior technical stakeholders, and driving innovation in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment—while always keeping the client and data trust at the center.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in data security, security engineering, or risk management.
5+ years of hands‑on experience engineering enterprise DLP solutions (e.g., Proofpoint, Forcepoint, Microsoft Purview, Netskope).
5+ years delivering cybersecurity initiatives involving requirements definition, engineering, testing, and production implementation.
5+ years collaborating with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and program managers in complex enterprise environments.
4+ years of experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Curl, Glue).
Preferences:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience designing DLP or data‑protection controls for AI/ML platforms or data pipelines.
Strong experience with Regular Expression creation, tuning, and structured/unstructured data classification.
Familiarity with AI data governance, data lineage, and sensitive‑data detection techniques.
