Role Purpose
The Head of Data Governance is accountable for defining, leading, and embedding Haleon’s enterprise data governance strategy, operating model, and capabilities across all data domains, platforms, and regions.
This role owns the governance vision, priorities, and outcomes, ensuring that data is trusted, compliant, reusable, and fit for business, regulatory, and analytical use. The Head of Data Governance leads a specialist team responsible for governance execution, tooling enablement (including Informatica IDMC and Marketplace), and adoption across the enterprise. Working closely with and guiding the Data Steward team to embed governance through stewardship.
Operating at senior leadership level, this role partners with business, technology, analytics, and risk leaders to ensure governance is embedded, scalable, and value‑driven, not just policy‑based.
Key responsibilities:
Enterprise Data Governance Strategy & Operating Model
Define, maintain, and evolve the enterprise data governance strategy, frameworks, and operating model.
Establish clear governance principles, standards, and decision rights across data domains.
Ensure governance is aligned to enterprise priorities, digital transformation initiatives, and regulatory obligations.
Set the roadmap for governance capability maturity, tooling, and adoption.
Leadership of Governance & Marketplace Capabilities
Provide leadership and direction to:
Data Governance Specialists (governance frameworks, controls, stewardship enablement)
IDMC Marketplace Product Manager(s) (governance tooling, reuse, asset adoption)
Ensure governance strategy is translated into practical execution through IDMC, Catalog, and Marketplace capabilities.
Balance strategic intent with scalable, operational delivery.
Informatica IDMC & Marketplace Oversight
Own the enterprise governance tooling strategy, including Informatica IDMC Governance, Catalog, and Marketplace.
Ensure Informatica Marketplace is used as a core governance enablement mechanism, driving:
Reuse of standards, glossaries, DQ rules, and accelerators
Consistency across domains and initiatives
Faster, lower‑risk delivery
Govern prioritisation, funding, and value realisation of governance tooling investments.
Data Ownership, Stewardship & Culture
Establish and sustain clear data ownership and stewardship models across the enterprise.
Sponsor and support the Data Steward community, ensuring governance responsibilities are understood and embedded.
Drive a culture of accountability, reuse, and data ownership rather than compliance‑only governance.
Stakeholder Leadership & Executive Engagement
Act as the enterprise point of accountability for Data Governance with senior business and technology leaders.
Influence and align stakeholders across:
Business units and Operating Units
Digital & Technology leadership
Analytics, AI, and Data Science teams
Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Security, and Quality functions
Represent Data Governance in enterprise forums, steering committees, and audits.
Risk, Compliance & Audit Accountability
Ensure governance frameworks support regulatory, privacy, security, and data integrity requirements.
Provide executive assurance on data governance controls, adoption, and effectiveness.
Own governance‑related risks, ensuring mitigation, transparency, and audit readiness.
Performance, Value & Continuous Improvement
Define and monitor enterprise governance KPIs, adoption measures, and value indicators.
Ensure governance delivers measurable outcomes (trust, quality, reuse, efficiency).
Continuously improve governance processes, tooling, and operating effectiveness
Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
18+ years of deep expertise in enterprise data governance frameworks, operating models, and best practices.
Strong understanding of MDM, Data Quality, metadata management, and data lifecycle governance.
Proven senior leadership capability, including people leadership and executive influence.
Strong experience governing and scaling data governance tooling, ideally Informatica IDMC and Marketplace.
Ability to translate strategy into adopted, scalable execution models.
Excellent communication, influence, and decision‑making skills in complex, global environments
Experience Required:
Degree or equivalent experience in Data, Technology, Information Management, or related fields.
Extensive experience in senior data governance, master data, or enterprise data leadership roles.
Proven experience operating in large, global, regulated organisations. Demonstrated experience leading specialist governance teams and enterprise initiatives.
Strong familiarity with Informatica IDMC governance, catalog, and Marketplace capabilities is highly desirable
