The Bureau of HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis (BHSH) works to reduce the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and hepatitis B and C through surveillance, prevention, and care. The bureau also offers treatment through participating providers and services to eligible Ohioans living with HIV and STIs.
What You'll Do:
BHSH has an opening for an Infectious Disease Control Consultant. This position will act as an expert/resource for local communities, providers, health care professionals, and the public regarding HIV infection control matters. Duties include:
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is an hourly position, with a pay range of 13 on the 1199 Pay Range Schedule.
Unusual Working Conditions: Exposed to unpredictable patient behavior, illness, infectious &/or communicable diseases.
Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment: Biennial renewal of license to practice as Registered Nurse.
Educational Transcript Requirements: Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application. Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript prior to receiving a formal offer of employment. Failure to provide transcripts within 5 working days of being requested will cause the applicant to be eliminated from further consideration.

Transcripts printed from the institution's website will not be accepted. ODH reserves the right to assess the academic credibility of an educational entity's award of a putative degree.

Current & valid license to practice professional nursing as Registered Nurse (i.e., R.N.) in Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code; AND 24 mos. exp. as Registered Nurse practicing in infection control in a population/community based setting to include both: analysis & interpretation of collected infection control data & investigation & surveillance of suspected outbreaks of infection; AND at least 3 of the following: (i.e., planning, implementation & evaluation of infection prevention & control measures; education of individuals about infection risk, prevention & control; development & revision of infection control policies & procedures; management of infection prevention & control activities; providing consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention & control strategies); AND 4 mos. trg. or 4 mos. exp. in public speaking/teaching techniques; AND 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in computer operation.
-Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 13, Step 1 of the 1199 union Pay Range Schedule ($34.96/hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($36.65/hour) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter
