The Line Lead is the senior operator on a designated production line, responsible for leading day-to-day operations to ensure safety, quality, and output targets are met on their designated line. Acting as the first point of contact for operatives on the line, the Line Lead coordinates team activities,ensures adherence to SOPs and GMP, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
This hands-on role bridges the gap between frontline operations and management, playing a key part in delivering consistent performance on the production floor.
This role will be site-based, Monday to Friday – 22:00pm-06:30am
For this opportunity, we are offering up to £30,000 - £33,000 depending on experience. This role also comes with a £4000 shift allowance.
Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the activities of operatives on the line to ensure smooth and efficient running of production.
Ensure daily production targets are met in line with KPIs for output, quality, efficiency, and waste.
Monitor process flows and escalate issues promptly to the Shift Manager for resolution.
Set up machinery and conduct routine checks to ensure line readiness at the start of shifts.
Conduct and record in process checks to ensure products meet required specifications.
Act as the senior point of contact for all operatives on the line; provide clear direction,coaching, and support.
Ensure operatives understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Support the onboarding and training of new team members on the line
Promote a team oriented environment, driving accountability and engagement on the line.
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work area in accordance with GMP, Health & Safety,and company standards.
Perform line-side quality checks and documentation as per Quality Assurance procedures.
Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time, including batch records and logbooks.
Immediately flag non conformance or deviations to the Shift Manager and assist in root cause investigations.
Identify and suggest opportunities for improving line performance, reducing downtime, and minimising waste.
Participate in daily production meetings and contribute to performance reviews with meaningful feedback from the line.
Support trials, validations, and improvement projects as needed.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within a regulated industry (cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food).
Strong understanding of line operations, equipment, and production processes.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and standard hygiene/safety procedures.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead by example.
Attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills.
Basic IT skills and the ability to complete accurate written documentation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
