Sleep Country Canada is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data platforms that support reporting, analytics, and operational use cases across the organization. This role ensures data is reliable, accurate, and accessible for business users, analysts, and downstream systems. The position works closely with Business Intelligence, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to deliver data solutions that enable consistent reporting and decision-making. The role also contributes to improving data quality, performance, and standardization across data platforms.
In this current open role you will:
- Design and build scalable data pipelines and data integration processes to support reporting and analytics across business domains
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and issue resolution processes
- Support Business Intelligence and reporting teams by delivering clean, well-structured, and accessible datasets
- Optimize data performance, storage, and processing to support scalable and efficient data operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BI, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations) to translate business requirements into data solutions
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and contribute to development standards and best practices
- Monitor and support production data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution of data incidents
The Qualifications and experience we like to see:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data, or related field
- 6 to 8 years’ experience working in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics environments.
- Strong experience with SQL and data transformation logic.
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming language.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; GCP considered an asset).
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
- Experience working with retail or transactional data environments.
- Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders..
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain data concepts clearly

Additional Information
This is a current open position. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 annually. Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labor market.
